Chris' Water Gardens Travels to Uganda
to Help Install Rainwater Harvesting System
Creating Sustainable Solutions for the World-Wide Water Crisis
One child dies every fifteen seconds from illnesses associated with a lack of clean drinking water, and a bad level of hygiene and basic sanitation. Four children die each minute. 5,760 children die every day. Over 2.1 million children die every year due to water related diseases.
The Aquascape Foundation is helping to end this needless suffering...one system at a time. We found a simple solution to a complex problem - CARING!
Straddling th equator in Africa, between the nations of Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya lays breathtaking Lake Victoria, the world's 2nd largest freshwater lake. Despite its stunning first impression, Lake Victoria has a serious pollution problem due to sewage and industrail chemicals, and therefore cannot be used for drinking.
The Kiyindi school campus houses over 900 students and the Makonge Health Centre, the only medical facility available for over 100,000 people. Clean water is vital to both the school and the health clinic.
A team of volunteers from the Aquascape Foundation, including Chris' Water Gardens, is eagerly anticipated in January 2012 for the installation of a RainXchange rainwater harvesting system. Chris Sturdyvin and crew foreman Matt Kinney have been asked to help with this project and travel ith the Aquascape Foundation over 7800 miles to share in this amazing experience, and enrich hundreds of lives with the installation of this revolutionary system. Over 600 AquaBlox, a grate-like unit that creates an underground storage area for captured rainwater, are needed to build the 20,000 gallon rainwater harvesting system for the Kiyindi school.
Please consider making a donation to help Chris & Matt with their trip and to purchase the AquaBlox needed for this special project that is guaranteed to enhance the lives of hundreds of children and their families.
The cost is $3400 per person. To help with this project, we are seeking donations from individuals, clubs, and businesses. All donations are tax-deductible. Chris is available for seminars to discuss the RainXchange System and the trip to Uganda. Donations can be made by contacting us at (217) 896-2225. Thank you for caring!

Rainwater System Installed for DACC
Danville Area Community College proudly adds a new method for watering their gardens and landscape. This Wednesday, July 27th, Chris’ Water Gardens will install the revolutionary RainXchange™ System for capturing, filtering, and re-using rainwater on the DACC campus. This rainwater will be used to help subsidize their water usage when watering their green house plants and turf greens.
The RainXchange™ System combines a recirculating decorative bubbling rock water feature with a sub-surface rainwater harvest storage system, capable of holding 1000 gallons of rainwater! You have probably seen pictures with big barrels or even a big cistern that is connected to a rain gutter on a home to collect rain water. These traditional rainwater harvesting systems do not add beauty or value to a home or commercial site. The RainXchange system does BOTH by storing the water underground to maintain the integrity and beauty of your home and landscape. “Creating Waterfalls and ponds is my passion and I am so excited to make them even more Eco-friendly than before!” said Chris Sturdyvin, owner of Chris’ Water Gardens.
Being “green” by reusing rainwater makes sense. You can reduce water bills which include storm sewer charges, alleviate demand on municipal systems, and avoid any strict watering schedules. If you use rainwater which is extremely rich in nutrients to irrigate your landscape; you will reduce fertilizer use and no chemicals are added to rainwater. Our planet’s freshwater is slowly being depleted by wasteful usage and pollution. Fresh water is something that science cannot replenish – all the more reason to start capturing and reusing this precious resource!
When used in conjunction with Aquascape’s AquaBlox® Matrix®, the RainXchange™ System can earn up to 12 LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credit points, making it an ideal residential and commercial application for managing storm water in green building projects.

New Green Home in Urbana adds Rainwater System
The Home Builder Association of East Central Illinois is utilizing a beautiful new method to capture, filter and reuse our most precious resource – water! The Home Builders Association, in conjunction with Illinois Brick are building a new home focused on “Being Green”. With the help of Chris’ Water Gardens, a beautiful RainXchange™ System will be installed at their Green Home Build on August 3.
Chris’ Water Gardens will install a 500 gallon rainwater storage system, received from a downspout filter and then pumped back to the surface to use for watering the grounds, washing the car, or whatever the need may be! A beautiful decorative water feature will also be incorporated with this rainwater storage to add beauty and value to the new home.
